I’m Rosa, and the story of El Roure, now a rural house in Molló designed for rest and wellbeing, began long before I was born. In 1984, my father made one of the bravest decisions of his life: he sold all our family’s livestock to buy an old stone house in this small, isolated village in the Pyrenees of Girona. For him, that house was a dream, a challenge, and a deep connection to nature.

I was born in 1985, and El Roure became my first home and the place where my most cherished memories were formed. Although we moved to the Empordà, in Vila-sacra, for work, we always returned to the Pyrenees whenever possible. Every weekend there fueled the dream of one day restoring the house and bringing it back to life, even though it was then just a distant hope. My father, a humble farm worker, never had the resources to make it happen.

In 2014, my parents divorced, and later my father returned to El Roure. The house remained unchanged: without insulation, no drinking water, and little light. Still, he lived there as best he could, clinging to his refuge.

In 2019, cancer returned. Although we fought together, the pandemic overwhelmed hospitals, and he couldn’t receive proper care. Those were the hardest days of my life. When he passed away, he left a huge void… and a legacy that would forever change my future.

Reading his will with my sisters and discovering he had left me El Roure, I knew it was time to bring to life what he couldn’t: transform our family home into a place of wellbeing, nature, and disconnection for others.

I mortgaged to carry out a full renovation. For a year, my husband and I traveled daily from Madremanya to work on the project. With effort, dedication, and immense care, we restored every corner to maintain its essence while updating it for modern comfort.

Today, El Roure is reborn as a rural house in the Pyrenees, designed for those seeking tranquility, nature, and authentic experiences.
